Renting A Charter Bus For Your School's Athletics Department

Posted on

If your school's athletics department plans trips for training camps, state or regional competitions, you may want more than just a traditional school bus to transport your athletes. A charter bus offers a comfortable and reliable way to travel. Here are a few things to look for when booking a trip with a charter bus transportation company.

Equipment Storage

You'll want to make sure that the charter bus you book has enough room for not only the team's luggage, but the team's sports equipment too. Talk to the reservations representative about the types of equipment you need to bring with you, such as baseball bats or hockey sticks, so you can get the storage space you need for these items. Typically, charter buses have storage compartments that are accessible from the outside of the bus, but some buses may also have interior storage compartments you can take advantage of.

Bus Location Monitoring

Your team needs to know it can leave any sporting venue when the competition is over. Some bus companies use GPS monitoring, which your coaches and staff members can use to locate the bus at any given time. The information can be accessed through an app on your smartphone or tablet, and you can use the app to communicate with the driver. This feature also comes in handy if your team decides to go out for a celebratory dinner after the big game.

Shuttle Services

If you are traveling by airplane to your sporting events, conferences, or camps, you may still be in need of a charter bus service. Booking a bus to take you from the hotel to the event venues can help to ensure you all arrive on time, and shuttle service from the hotel to the airport means you won't have to struggle to fit the whole team on the hotel's shuttle bus. Look for a bus that offers a few luxury features, such as on-board televisions, to give your team a bit of first class treatment when traveling to games or to the airport. If your charter bus company serves more than one city, you might be able to book transportation to and from the airport in both your departure city and your arrival destination.

You'll want to have all of the information about the charter company, such as First Class Charter, available for the parents of your students to look over, including the name of the company, phone number, and website, to provide added peace of mind when they sign permission slips. Be sure to print out itenieraries for parents to look over as well, so they know where their student athletes will be at every point in the trip.
